Grammy Award-winning reggae artist Shaggy is scheduled to headline APP Pickleball Beats Presented by Chase, a first-of-its kind celebration of arts and pickleball held by the Association of Pickleball Players (APP) and Chase. Tickets are now available for the March 22 concert at 8 p.m. ET at Island Gardens in Miami, Fla.
Shaggy, managed by Martin Kierszenbaum/Cherrytree Music Company, is one of the most influential reggae artists of the last three decades, receiving seven Grammy Award nominations and winning twice for Best Reggae Album with “Boombastic” in 1996 and “44/876” with Sting in 2019. He is one of the top three most-streamed reggae artists on Spotify with more than 15 million monthly listeners. He’s also the only living diamond-selling reggae artist and a noted philanthropist, raising millions of dollars for the Bustamante Hospital for Children in Jamaica.
To celebrate the APP’s new presence in Miami, Chase will welcome players, fans and local card members to a vibrant evening event that showcases the sights, sounds and flavors of Miami. DJ Irie, an icon in the Miami music scene and the official DJ of the Miami Heat, will kick off the evening. The sounds will continue with an energetic cover band, followed by the headline performance by Shaggy. Guests will take in the unparalleled skyline views from the waterfront oasis at Island Gardens while experiencing first-class food, drink and entertainment.
Limited tickets are now available via SITickets.com.
“We are truly excited to join forces with Chase to bring this fantastic event to our fans,” said APP Chief Marketing Officer Tom Webb. “We share a collective vision of providing a best-in-class experience for everyone, and APP Pickleball Beats Presented by Chase will be a true testament to that. The Chase APP Miami Pickleball Open will be a true celebration of the sport, and it just got even more exciting.”
APP Pickleball Beats Presented by Chase coincides with the first APP Tour Major of 2024—the Chase APP Miami Pickleball Open. The tournament features enhanced prize pools for pros and is one of the APP’s five “Golden Ticket” events, which provide all players the opportunity to auto-qualify to compete at the 2024 USA Pickleball National Championships by virtue of earning a gold medal in their tournament bracket. The six-day tournament also coincides with the inaugural APP Atlantic Cup—an historic event that pits Team USA against Team Europe in the first-ever international team pickleball competition.
