The 2023 APP Sunmed New Jersey Open wraps up three straight weeks of nonstop pickleball action on the APP Tour. Championship Sunday will award five new APP pro titles, and you can catch all the action on APPTV on YouTube beginning at 10:00 a.m. ET.
In singles, Salome Devidze finds herself in yet another gold medal match on the women's side, this time taking on Megan Fudge for the title. Chao Yi Wang took home the bronze. On the men's side, Hunter Johnson finds himself going for gold after coming off of injury, and his challenger is Eduardo Irizarry, who comes out of the back draw. Yates Johnson was the winner of the bronze medal.
In mixed pro doubles, the newly formed pairing of Allison Harris and Hunter Johnson will be taking on the established duo of Susannah Barr and Andrei Daescu. Husband and wife Ryler DeHeart and Megan Fudge, who rarely compete as a team, took home the bronze.
On Saturday, the powerhouse pair of Daescu and Rob Nunnery, who have medaled in the last three APP events, beat Hunter Johnson and Yates Johnson in the winners bracket final only to set up a rematch on Championship Sunday with the Johnson brothers, who came out of the backdraw. Newly formed women's doubles team, Harris and Simone Jardim, will play for gold against either Barr and Fudge or reigning champs from the APP Chicago Open, Vivian Glozman and Alix Truong, depending on who prevails in the bronze medal match, scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Sunday.
